Palouse Heritage Sonoran Gold™ Wheat is the first cereal grain introduced to North America and came with 16th century Spanish settlers to the New World. This flavorful Mediterranean variety was widely grown across central Mexico and reached missions along the El Camino Real in present California by the early 1700s. Within a century stands were reported in the Oregon Country where pioneers also named it for the beautiful golden color of its nutritious kernels. Sonoran Gold™ produces a naturally sweet, nutty-tasting flour and has long been prized for flatbreads, frybreads, biscuits, and pastries.
