The Palouse Heritage Foundation preserves and promotes the agricultural traditions, knowledge, and resources that sustain communities across generations. Through historical preservation, educational initiatives, humanitarian partnerships, and food security research, we support projects that honor our agrarian heritage while helping address the challenges of today and tomorrow. From America’s living history farms to communities affected by conflict and hardship around the world, we believe heritage grains have the power to nourish both people and culture.
Our Projects
Seeds of History Initiative
We preserve and restore America’s agricultural history by supplying rare and historically authentic heritage grains to nationally significant living history sites, including George Washington’s Mount Vernon and Colonial Williamsburg.
Seeds of Hope Initiative
We support humanitarian initiatives that help restore food security and self-sufficiency in communities affected by war and displacement through partnerships that provide garden seeds, mobile bakeries, and other agricultural resources.
Seeds of Art Initiative
We preserve and share a unique collection of historic agrarian artwork that celebrates the people, landscapes, and traditions of agricultural life. Through stewardship of this collection, along with research and educational initiatives, we help ensure that the cultural heritage and artistic legacy of farming continue to inform and inspire future generations.
Seeds of Security Initiative
We conduct and promote research into the critical role agriculture plays in global stability, economic resilience, and national security. From food system vulnerabilities to the geopolitical implications of global grain production and trade, we support efforts to better understand how a secure food supply underpins both prosperous societies and a more stable world.
