A simple, rustic fruit crisp that lets seasonal plums shine. The nutty sweetness of freshly milled Palouse Heritage White Sonora flour pairs beautifully with oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon — creating a golden, buttery topping over juicy baked fruit.

Topping

  • ½ cup Palouse Heritage White Sonora flour

  • ½ cup oats

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup melted butter or margarine

Filling

  • 3 cups sliced plums

  • 1 tablespoon Palouse Heritage White Sonora flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare filling: In a medium bowl, combine sliced plums, flour, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Mix gently and pour into an ungreased 1½-quart baking dish.

  3. Prepare topping: In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter. Stir until the mixture is crumbly.

  4. Assemble: Distribute the topping evenly over the plum mixture.

  5. Bake: 45 minutes, or until the top is crisp and golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

  6. Serve warm — plain or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
